DIALUP - A Roguelike Telepathic Modem Simulator

Descend through haunted networks, handshaking with things that remember you. In DIALUP, every connection is a gamble: a tense descent into corrupted subnets where echoes of your voice return warped. This roguelike blends atmospheric, terminal-core storytelling with strategic encounters, puzzle nodes, and a customizable packet kit. The modem isn’t just listening - it’s talking back.

Gameplay Overview

  • Connect - Jack into unstable networks with diegetic boot sequences, shifting node maps, and cascading system alerts.
  • Fight - Face off against FIREWALL FRAGMENTS, ICE NODES, CORRUPTED SIGNALS, and lurking AIs using a card-like packet kit: pings, flushes, exploits, and more.
  • Choose - Respond to ghost chat prompts… or remain silent. Your choices shape pacing, tone, and rewards.
  • Recover - Unlock core_dump logs, leaked corp files, and fragments of entities that still remember you.
  • Survive - Manage signal stability, corruption levels, and hazards—each node rewrites the rules.
  • Unravel - Discover a short, replayable demo story that teases a larger conspiracy inside the haunted net.

Roadmap (Post-Demo)

  • Expanded packet kit, status effects, and meta-progression.
  • More node types: branching routes, hazards, and deeper puzzles.
